Kierston White is an Americana artist residing in Norman, OK. She was first inspired to pick up the guitar by brother Bryon White of the Damn Quails, who introduced her to Woodyfest in its early years. She performed her first Woodyfest in 2015. Kierston formed all-female red dirt group Tequila Songbirds in 2014. She has completed multiple solo tours nationally and performs locally at Oklahoma City’s iconic listening room, The Blood Door. During the covid 19 pandemic, Kierston worked as a registered nurse in the ICU at Norman Regional Hospital, an experience which can be detected in some of her newer songs.
“She wields her guitar like a woodsman’s axe, and in softer moments like a carving knife. Her dynamics are well placed. The occasional heavy vibrato of her voice quivers with the sensibility of a broken heart, breaking forward through the fog.” – Rick Reiley, Corridor Magazine.
