Shawna Russell is an Okemah native and singer/songwriter known for her blend of country, rock, and Americana influences. Her musical journey began at just seven-years-old. With roots steeped in family tradition, Shawna started touring professionally alongside her dad, Keith Russell, and her uncle, Tim Russell, in 1997. She quickly found the spotlight with her vocal and guitar skills. The family band “Shawna Russell and Way Out West” played over 200 shows per year around the U. S. and Canada. In 2008 Shawna released her debut album “Goddess” on Way Out West records, and from that effort charted 4 singles on national charts including Music Row and Billboard. Her next two studio albums also charted songs on major charts and her videos were played world-wide on platforms such as The Country Network and CMT. In 2016, Shawna and the family created and starred in their own nationally-televised show. During this show, titled “Our Land The Music Highway”, Shawna hosted many well-known Texas and Americana artists, sharing the stage with the likes of John Fullbright, Reckless Kelly, and Michael Martin Murphy. She continues to play many venues in Oklahoma and Texas, as well as venturing out to open shows for national artists in other states.
